National Energy Efficiency Awards – being recognised for helping those in need

AgilityEco, a leader in low carbon, energy efficiency and fuel poverty services has been recognised for its work helping vulnerable households out of fuel poverty by being shortlisted for six National Energy Efficiency Awards. This includes four for AgilityEco and two for its employees.

The four awards AgilityEco has been shortlisted for are: National Multi-Measure Project of the Year, Funding Provider of the Year, Project Management Company of the Year, Social Responsibility Company of the Year.

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for these awards and to be recognised for our work funding and managing energy efficiency projects to help address fuel poverty across England, Scotland and Wales.

“Our mission is to deliver better outcomes to low-income and vulnerable households to eliminate fuel poverty and prepare Britain’s homes for ‘net zero’ carbon, and each year with our partners, we help thousands of vulnerable people living in cold properties which are not energy efficient. We have had a great social impact around the country and ensuring these people live in a warm and healthy home continues to be our greatest focus.”

The Warmer Homes project, managed by AgilityEco and led by Portsmouth City Council, has been shortlisted for National Multi-Measure Project of the Year. The scheme provides energy saving measures and support to vulnerable residents primarily along the South coast of England through a consortium of 21 council partners. Measures include first-time gas central heating, loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, solid wall insulation (internal and external), air source heat pumps. Park home insulation (external and/or underfloor) and solar PV panels. In 2020/21, 679 measures were installed which has achieved lifetime savings bill of £7.78 million.

Alongside these nominations, two of AgilityEco’s employees have also been shortlisted:

Shueb Ali, Chief Commercial Officer, has been nominated for the National Business Development Manager/Director of the Year. In 2020/21 he oversaw energy efficiency and affordable warmth programmes and funding across Britain which saw 25,000 measures installed in more than 14,000 households. This will give households an estimated lifetime saving on their energy bills of over £164 million. He is well known within the sector and frequently engages with BEIS, Ofgem, energy suppliers and supply chains and has made direct contribution to the policy development of ECO4.

Lorraine Gumbs, Programme Development Manager, has been shortlisted for Energy Efficiency Champion of the Year. Lorraine has a wealth of experience and has been helping vulnerable and fuel poor households for over 25 years. In this time, she has built a network of referral partners who are working closely with our most vulnerable members of society including the NHS, local authorities, charities, and contractors. Lorraine works nationally with 19 delivery partners and over 80 Home Energy Advisers (HEAs) on the Local Energy Advice Partnership (LEAP) programme and the national Connect for Help telephone advice service. Her work leading delivery partners and home energy advisors in 2020/21 has contributed to over £7 million in lifetime bill savings for hard-pressed households, the installation of nearly 75,000 small energy saving measures and over 20,000 tonnes of lifetime CO2 emissions abated.
