Paul Scully MP visits AgilityEco’s Sutton head office

On Friday 4th March, Paul Scully MP for Sutton and Cheam, visited the Agility Eco Services Ltd (AgilityEco) head office in Sutton to learn how private equity and investment has helped AgilityEco scale its services to create a bigger social impact across the UK in tackling fuel poverty.

During his visit, Paul Scully MP met AgilityEco employees and listened to a presentation by co-founder Gearóid Lane and Chief Operating Officer Sharon Johnson.

In his role as Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Labour Markets, Paul was particularly interested in AgilityEco’s business model. In addition to its own workforce of 86 people, AgilityEco supports over 750 jobs nationwide. These include self-employed energy assessors, heating and insulation installers and charity staff who provide energy advice. The AgilityEco team took the opportunity to stress how important it is that the Government continues to provide funding for energy saving measures in low income and vulnerable households, in order to meet the legally binding target to end fuel poverty by 2030.

Paul Scully MP for Sutton and Cheam, Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy), and Minister of State (London) said:

Listening to how many households AgilityEco continues to help each year was truly eye-opening, and it’s fantastic to hear that they are scaling their services through private equity to help even more people in need.

“AgilityEco is a thriving organisation that has been growing every year since 2013. They are also committed to giving back to their local community and now directly employ 86 people, with almost 20% living in the local area.”

“In 2019, we changed our shareholding structure and replaced a financial investor with Bridges Evergreen Holdings Ltd, an active expert and strategic investor, to help us with long-term growth and deliver our objectives around low carbon, energy efficiency and fuel poverty services to help households in need. This has already led to a significant increase in our social impact. Last year alone we helped over 44,000 households with energy efficiency, utility bills, household finances and vulnerability.”

AgilityEco is continuing its conversations with wider government and other organisations to develop other services that will support even more fuel poor households over the coming months.
