AgilityEco partners with UK Power to launch brand new energy switching service for Portsmouth City Council, saving residents an average of £297* a year
AgilityEco to offer new bespoke service to other local authorities and social landlords nationwide in the coming weeks
AgilityEco is pleased to announce a new energy switching service specifically designed for local authorities and social landlords. Recognising the growing interest from these clients to offer their tenants and residents energy advice, AgilityEco has developed this service specifically to support local authorities and social landlords’ combined efforts to combat fuel poverty in local communities.
Working in partnership with Ofgem-accredited energy price comparison and switching service UK Power, AgilityEco has now launched an energy switching service for Portsmouth City Council, offering Portsmouth residents the cheapest energy tariff across all the tariffs in the energy market (https://switch.portsmouth.gov.uk). With an estimated average annual cost saving of approximately £297*, AgilityEco’s service will enable many hard-pressed families to switch to the best energy deal available, before the start of winter. Portsmouth City Council’s branded fuel switching website went ‘live’ on 1st September 2016 and will be promoted to all residents in the Portsmouth area using existing resident communications.
AgilityEco’s switching site service has many advantages for local authorities and social landlords over the different options available in today’s energy market, such as collective switching or developing a standalone energy company. These include:
- minimal set-up and deployment costs, including a bespoke, fully branded website, which can be achieved in less than one month
- a ‘best value’ tariff offered to tenants and residents. UK Power compares all the tariffs in the market– not just those available from a single energy company
- energy tariffs that are updated daily, so customers will always get the best deals available
- greater choice for consumers to ensure they are matched with the right energy supplier
- a new revenue stream generated by the switching site – commission is paid to local authorities and social landlords to re-invest into local community initiatives.
Cllr Donna Jones, Leader of Portsmouth City Council, said: “We are proud to be one of the first local authorities to offer a switching service to their residents. It's one of the easiest ways to reduce your household expenses and ensure that you're not paying more than you need to. By offering this service we can help residents save money on their gas and electricity bills, whilst ensuring it's provided by a trusted source. By partnering with UK Power and AgilityEco, we’ve been able to generate money back into the local authority, with funds going right back into supporting and sustaining council services in our city, which benefits everyone. I encourage everyone to use the site and take a look at what you could save. If you haven't switched your tariff recently there's the potential to save hundreds of pounds."
Jon Kimber, Managing Director, AgilityEco, said: “The energy market is changing rapidly. The emergence of smaller companies taking a greater market share from the Big Six is now a reality. With more choice than ever before, finding the right energy deal is challenging. Our research has found that local authorities and social landlords are uniquely placed to help with this challenge, as they have the trust of their residents and tenants. Using the bespoke switching service we’ve developed with UKPower, Portsmouth City Council will be able to consistently offer ‘best value’ to families by ensuring they get the best energy deals available in the marketplace. We’re speaking to more local authorities and social landlords interested in using this service and expect many more to join over the coming months.”
Jonathan Elliott, Chief Executive Officer, UK Power, commented: ”The partnership will help thousands of households across Portsmouth find the right tariff with the right supplier, for the right price and at the right length. A process that’s normally not only confusing but also time consuming can now be done with a few clicks of a mouse and a bill to hand. With hundreds of pounds to be saved each year, we can’t wait to hear how Portsmouth is spending its savings. ”
