Delivery phase for PCC's Green Deal Communities initiative announced

Following the announcement in March 2014 that Peterborough City Council (PCC) secured £4 million of Green Deal Communities Funding, AgilityEco is delighted to announce that the delivery phase of the project has begun and installation work is now underway on the first ten properties selected as ‘demonstration homes’ by PCC under their Green Deal Communities initiative.

As part of the ongoing project management for the initiative, AgilityEco will be working closely with Mark Group and E.ON, who have been selected as the two dedicated Green Deal providers for this scheme.

Green Deal Assessments are currently in progress and are being carried out by AgilityEco’s sister company, AgilitySurvey, to ascertain the full range of energy efficiency measures that can be installed across nearly 1000 Peterborough homes. Hundreds of Peterborough residents attended AgilityEco’s highly successful community event earlier this year which saw over 250 people register for free Green Deal Assessment visits. So far, approximately 300 surveys have been carried out and these properties each qualify for a home improvement voucher worth up to £6,000 off the cost of their installation works, which will begin shortly.

Gearóid Lane, CEO of AgilityEco said:
“We’ve reached an exciting stage of the project with PCC. Delivering the first ten homes to undergo installation is a milestone for us, indicating that we will soon be able to demonstrate the benefits of energy saving measures, to homeowners across Peterborough. PCC is truly setting the bar high for other local authorities embarking on Green Deal Communities activity and we’re confident that its homeowners are going to enjoy big savings on their energy bills as a result.

“24 local authorities have won funding from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and AgilityEco is proud to be working with six of these local authorities, which includes PCC.”

John Harrison, Executive Director, Resources, Peterborough City Council said:
“We’re excited that we’ve reached the delivery phase of such an important project which will ultimately improve the quality of housing in Peterborough and alleviate fuel poverty. AgilityEco has worked hard on our behalf to promote the benefits of Green Deal Assessments to our residents and we look forward to seeing many more residents enjoy significant savings on their fuel bills in the coming months.”
