Briefing on EC04 delivery & impact

31 January 2024

AgilityEco has today published a report outlining the positive impact that the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) programme is having on tackling fuel poverty across Britain. This follows the publication of monthly figures by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and by Ofgem showing continued strong delivery of thousands of insulation, low carbon heating and other energy saving measures through the scheme.

AgilityEco is calling for a commitment to ECO by the Government out to 2030 – the current iteration of the scheme is due to expire in 2026 and clarity is needed by the energy industry in order to properly prepare for continued delivery. The success of ECO in installing multiple energy saving measures into fuel poor homes is achieving significant benefits for those on low income and in vulnerable conditions. However, the sheer number of homes in fuel poverty means that an increase in spend is required if the government’s own legally binding target is not going to be missed.

You can download a PDF of the report here.
