AgilityEco partners with Cadent Gas and Affordable Warmth Solutions to provide customer support for new Connected for Warmth initiative

3 December 2019

New Connected for Warmth scheme will enable 1000 eligible private sector and rented households to make big savings on their energy bills

AgilityEco is delighted to be working with Affordable Warmth Solutions (AWS) to provide the front-end customer support and project management for Connected for Warmth, a new service designed to help eligible private / private rented sector households make big savings on their fuel bills.

The scheme which is sponsored by whg will be available across the entire Cadent gas distribution network, including the North West, Midlands, East of England and North London. Connected for Warmth will provide a free first-time gas connection and energy-efficient heating system to eligible fuel poor homes.

Cadent’s longstanding partner Affordable Warmth Solutions (AWS), which has worked to lift thousands of homes out of fuel poverty over the past decade, will help deliver and fund the scheme through its Warm Homes Fund programme. The Warm Homes Fund is a national fund worth £150 million established by National Grid and administered by AWS.

Households in the Cadent gas distribution area can apply directly through the Connected for Warmth website. In certain areas where AgilityEco’s already-established LEAP (Local Energy Advice Partnership) service is running, eligible applicants will receive a LEAP visit as well, enabling them to benefit from a range of simple energy efficiency measures and debt and money advice if they wish. Similarly, households receiving a LEAP visit will also be offered support through Connected for Warmth if the Home Energy Advisor believes they are eligible.

Applicants will be asked to complete a quick survey to determine their eligibility for the scheme. If successful they will receive a free gas connection, and new gas central heating system utilising the latest energy efficient boilers.

While homeowners and tenants will pay nothing toward the scheme, private landlords will need to make a small contribution to have a system installed, should their property be eligible.

The scheme is expected to run until 2021 and it is hoped that over a thousand homes could benefit.
