Connected for Warmth is managed by AgilityEco on behalf of whg and is funded by the Warm Homes Fund. This is a national fund of £150 million established by National Grid and administered by Affordable Warmth Solutions (AWS). The Warm Homes Fund supports a number of projects across Britain to help people reduce energy bills and keep warm and healthy.
Mr F found out about Connected for Warmth and referred himself through the online application form. His property had no central heating at all, only old electric storage heaters on the ground level of the property and no form of heating upstairs. Mr F is elderly, on a low income and in receipt of benefits so was eligible for support from this programme. Following a survey in December, the Connected for Warmth team arranged installation of a gas meter and first-time gas central heating to be completed in January.
Mr F received a first-time gas central heating system worth £6,000 and this improved the energy efficiency of his property from an EPC Rating of G to D! Mr F said the installation has made a huge difference to the property. His electricity bill was astronomical beforehand, so the gas central heating system has made a huge difference financially and his property is much warmer.
His daughter, who helped with the arrangements, said that after the installers had finished Mr F cried with happiness and was extremely grateful to be in a warm home. His daughter explained that Mr F is fighting cancer and they no longer have to worry about him being in a cold home and catching pneumonia or shivering when moving around his home.
"This has made a huge difference and I am extremely grateful to be in a warm home." - Mr F
